Scotland’s space ecosystem is rooted in Glasgow – the country’s largest city and a former industrial powerhouse, now transformed into a leader in nanosatellites, CubeSats, and other space technologies, including downstream solutions.

Home to several of the UK’s top universities and with easy access to Scotland’s spaceports, Glasgow offers a dynamic space environment with excellent collaboration opportunities for Danish companies.

This year, CenSec, in collaboration with Space Denmark, is organising a networking trip for Danish stakeholders to explore Glasgow’s rapidly growing NewSpace ecosystem. Participants will have the opportunity to meet and connect with a wide range of exciting space companies and research institutions that make up the thriving space cluster in the west of Scotland.

The trip will be led by Søren Gram Riisgaard, who has worked with Scotland’s space sector for several years from the British Embassy in Copenhagen. Søren has deep insight into Scotland’s space capabilities and has previously organised multiple study trips from the Nordic region to Scotland’s space ecosystem. He’s a great admirer of Scottish culture – but can’t stand whisky.

Who should join?

This networking trip is aimed at large Danish space companies, SMEs, and start-ups with an interest in Scotland’s space sector.

Other interested parties are also welcome, and the programme will be continuously refined to ensure maximum relevance for all participants.

Meet the Ecosystem

Scotland’s space landscape is full of interesting actors, including launch companies like Skyrora and the Danish-Scottish Orbex, satellite firms such as Spire, AAC Clyde Space, and Alba Orbital, and spaceports like SaxaVord Spaceport in the Shetland Islands. The UK Space Agency has recently opened a new office in Edinburgh, highlighting Scotland’s strategic significance.

With support from the West of Scotland Space Cluster and the trade association ADS Scotland, we are building a programme designed to maximise valuable interactions with key players in the ecosystem.
