A Stronger Voice for Danish Space: Danish Space News Joins Space Denmark!

We’re happy to share that Space Denmark and Danish Space News have teamed up to create a single source of news related to Denmark’s growing space sector. Together, we aim to make Danish Space News the go-to place to follow what’s happening across the Danish space ecosystem.

As part of this collaboration, the newsletter will continue to grow into a clear and reliable overview of the Danish space sector, offering one place to stay updated. By bringing together Thomas Schumann’s experience as a spaceflight reporter with Space Denmark’s industry perspective, we combine editorial insight with sector knowledge. Alongside updates, we’ll focus on context and insights that help readers better understand developments and opportunities in the industry and the rest of the sector.

Danish Space News has so far been run independently by Thomas Schumann. Together with Søren Gram Riisgaard, founder and CEO of Space Denmark, we are now taking the next step to develop the publication into a more sustainable platform, supporting Space Denmark’s broader mission to strengthen the global reach of the Danish space industry.

Building Denmark’s Space News Platform

If you have been following Danish Space News so far, you have seen the weekly recap of everything that has happened in Denmark’s space industry. By joining forces, we will strive for a more consistent and reliable publishing rhythm, and with more resources, we will be able to bring readers closer to the industry through more interviews and perspectives from key people across the Danish space sector.

We see this as a shared platform and an open dialogue. Readers are always welcome to reach out through the newsletter to connect with the Space Denmark team or raise topics of interest. We are also exploring ways to offer additional value, including early access and relevant offers for Space Denmark events and networking activities. Companies and organisations with news to share can use the platform to increase visibility across the Danish space community.

This is only the beginning of Danish Space News, and we will continue to develop a publication that supports visibility, dialogue, and engagement across the Danish space ecosystem. At the same time, we are working towards a sustainable model that ensures continued, high-quality coverage, and we will share more details on how memberships will evolve in due course.

To our members and readers: “Thank You!” It’s our community that makes Space Denmark an impactful place to connect, and through this partnership, we look forward to strengthening that connection further. Thank you for reading and for being part of our mission to connect the Danish space ecosystem, all while telling the Danish space story, both in Denmark and internationally.

What is Space Denmark?

Space Denmark brings together Denmark’s space ecosystem across research, industry, start-ups, public authorities, and enthusiasts. It serves as both a national meeting point and an international platform, connecting people and ideas to strengthen collaboration and support innovation. Through events, knowledge sharing, and advisory services, Space Denmark fosters strong networks that contribute to the growth of the sector, while promoting Denmark’s space capabilities internationally.

Søren Gram Riisgaard founded Space Denmark in December 2024 with the ambition of creating a more connected and visible space ecosystem in Denmark. With a background in international trade and experience from the British Embassy, where he supported collaboration between the United Kingdom and Denmark, Søren brings a global perspective to his work. He focuses on building partnerships and strengthening Denmark’s position within the international space sector.

What is Danish Space News?

Danish Space News tracks all the news from the Danish space ecosystem in a weekly newsletter and publishes original, in-depth articles and interviews. No other publication follows Danish spaceflight this closely. Since September 2025, Thomas Schumann has published the Danish Space News newsletter on Substack.

Thomas Schumann has covered spaceflight since 2017, first as a freelance writer for major media sites such as Danmarks Radio and Weekendavisen and since as a host of Denmark’s first dedicated spaceflight radio program “Den Nye Rumalder” (2020-2022) on Radio4. He was the first to report on Denmark’s first lunar mission Máni and the first to interview HRH Prince Joachim of Denmark about his passion for space.
