Space Denmark is proud to announce the launch of Space Nordic, a groundbreaking initiative that will unite the Danish space sector with its Nordic neighbours to enhance collaboration, competitiveness, and global visibility. Funded by Nordic Innovation and led by Space Denmark, this three-year project will address the fragmentation that has long limited the region’s potential, ensuring Denmark and the wider Nordics are recognised as a unified force in the global space economy.
The partners in the project are Space Denmark and University of Southern Denmark (Denmark), Tampere University (Finland), Uppsala Innovation Centre and Innovatum Science Park (Sweden), and Norwegian Space Cluster (Norway). Â
A stronger voice for Denmark in the Nordics and beyond
Denmark already possesses world-class capabilities in space, but operating in isolation has weakened the country’s ability to compete on the global stage. Space Nordic will change this by fostering deeper collaboration between Danish organisations and their Nordic counterparts, scaling Research-to-Business initiatives, providing a shared framework for research dissemination, and ensuring a coordinated presence at major international space events.
For Denmark, this means greater access to shared research infrastructure, stronger partnerships with Nordic and European industry leaders, and a more compelling narrative when engaging with global buyers and investors. By leading this initiative, Space Denmark will position Danish space actors at the heart of a unified Nordic effort, amplifying their impact and opening new opportunities for growth.
What Space Nordic will deliver for Denmark
Over the next three years, Space Nordic will coordinate joint Nordic delegations at key global space events, replacing fragmented national pavilions with a powerful “Nordic Pavilion” presence. This will elevate Denmark’s visibility alongside its neighbours, creating a stronger, more cohesive brand for the region. The project will also map and provide access to specialised research, validation, and testing facilities across the Nordics, lowering barriers for Danish SMEs to develop and test space-qualified technologies.
A standardised framework for disseminating research will further bridge the gap between Danish academic breakthroughs and industrial applications, making it easier for local businesses to capitalise on innovation at the Nordic level. Finally, Space Nordic will facilitate brokerage between Danish space actors and large international buyers, ensuring that Denmark’s contributions to the sector are both seen and sought after.
A strategic move for Danish space leadership
“The Nordic region is already well-positioned to be a central space hub in Europe. We have the companies, universities, and collaborative and agile mindset needed to leverage the rapid growth in the space sector globally, but it requires us to coordinate and work together,” said Søren Gram Riisgaard, CEO of Space Denmark. Â
Get involved with Space Nordic
We are inviting organisations across the Danish space ecosystem to engage with Space Nordic and help shape the future of the region’s space sector. By following our activities, Danish companies, researchers, and institutions will gain access to a broader network, shared resources, and a stronger collective voice on the world stage.
As the project takes shape, we will share more information about how additional partner organisations and universities can get involved.

What is Space Denmark?
Space Denmark brings together Denmark’s space ecosystem across research, industry, start-ups, public authorities, and enthusiasts. It serves as both a national meeting point and an international platform, connecting people and ideas to strengthen collaboration and support innovation. Through events, knowledge sharing, and advisory services, Space Denmark fosters strong networks that contribute to the growth of the sector, while promoting Denmark’s space capabilities internationally.
Søren Gram Riisgaard founded Space Denmark in December 2024 with the ambition of creating a more connected and visible space ecosystem in Denmark. With a background in international trade and experience from the British Embassy, where he supported collaboration between the United Kingdom and Denmark, Søren brings a global perspective to his work. He focuses on building partnerships and strengthening Denmark’s position within the international space sector.
